Hosta are the work horses of the shady garden.
Hosta are grown as specimen plants, as background for other shade
loving
plants, and as edging plants. In the past hosta have been grown
primarily for their beautiful foliage; however, today many
breeders are working on flowers, many now have nice flowers and as
an added bonus several have wonderfully fragrant flowers.
The best performance is usually obtained with a couple of hours of
morning sun to light shade. Our selection offers newer choice
hosta available and several good older varieties we feel deserve a
place in your garden. "H" stands for height of plant and "W"
stands for width of plant as registered. Plants in your garden will
approximate these measurements as growing conditions and culture
can make a difference. Also sometimes a plant when registered had
not been growing for many years and will attain a larger
size with more age in the garden. NR indicates plant is not
registered. Our hosta are container grown and have excellent root
systems that will re-establish quickly in your garden. Once
settled in your garden, the plants will begin to take on their
mature leaf characteristics. We do not offer small immature
recently propagated plants. Our hosta are sent bare root and can
be shipped spring through fall. Hardy
zones 3-9.
Sizes: Mini = mini or dwarf; S = small, M = medium; L = large. Sizes generally
refer to the eventual height of the plant, not the plant's width.
